Disclaimer

Last updated: 11 September 2026

solarcom.in (the "Service") is operated by Solarcom ("Solarcom", "we", "us"). It is a public community forum where members discuss solar energy in India. This Disclaimer explains what the information on the Service is and is not, and it forms part of our Terms of Use. By using the Service you accept it.

In one sentence: everything on Solarcom is general information and community opinion, and you must verify it with a qualified professional before you rely on it.

1. Community opinion, not professional advice

Questions, answers and comments on the Service are written by members, not by us. They are opinion and personal experience. Nothing on the Service is professional engineering, electrical, structural, financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and no professional relationship of any kind — adviser, consultant, installer or fiduciary — is created between you and us, or between you and any member, by reading or posting on it.

Your circumstances — your roof, shading, load, wiring, tariff, DISCOM, state policy and finances — are specific to you. General answers cannot account for them.

2. Electrical work and physical safety

Solar systems, inverters, batteries and grid connections operate at voltages and currents that can cause electric shock, fire, serious injury and death, and can damage property. Rooftop work carries a risk of falls.

  • Do not carry out installation, wiring, earthing, battery, inverter or meter work on the strength of anything you read here.
  • Use a licensed electrician and, for grid-connected systems, an installer approved by your DISCOM. Follow applicable safety codes and your DISCOM's connection rules.
  • Batteries — particularly lithium-ion — carry specific fire and chemical hazards and should be installed, ventilated and disposed of only as the manufacturer specifies.

Our community rules prohibit unsafe electrical instructions, but we do not review posts before they appear and cannot guarantee that every post follows them.

3. Prices, savings, subsidies and estimates

Prices, tariffs, generation figures, payback periods and savings discussed on the Service — including those produced by our solar calculator and described on our subsidy pages — are indicative estimates based on generalised assumptions. Actual figures depend on location, roof orientation, shading, equipment, installation quality, weather, degradation and prevailing tariffs, and change over time.

Subsidy amounts, eligibility and approval are decided solely by the relevant government authority and your DISCOM, under scheme rules that are amended from time to time. We do not process, guarantee or influence any subsidy application. Always confirm current rules on the official scheme portal and with your DISCOM before committing money.

4. No government affiliation

Solarcom is an independent, privately operated community. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Government of India, any State Government, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the PM Surya Ghar scheme, any DISCOM, or any regulator. References to government schemes, portals, agencies and utilities are for information only. We cannot submit applications, approve connections or resolve disputes with any of them on your behalf.

5. We do not verify members or endorse what they say

  • We do not verify the identity, qualifications, licences, certifications or experience of members. A Business account, a company name or a stated job title is a member's own description of themselves, not something we have checked.
  • An answer being marked as accepted, receiving many likes, or appearing first in a thread means other members found it useful. It is not an endorsement by us, and it is not confirmation that it is correct.
  • Members who work for installers, manufacturers or dealers must disclose that interest when recommending their own products. Treat any recommendation — disclosed or not — with the caution you would give a sales conversation.

6. Installers, manufacturers and third-party links

The Service mentions and links to installers, manufacturers, products, government portals and other third-party websites. We do not control them and do not endorse, guarantee or accept responsibility for their products, services, prices, content or conduct. Any quotation, purchase, installation, warranty or financing arrangement is solely between you and that third party. We are not a party to it, we receive no commission from it, and we accept no liability arising from it. Check an installer's credentials, DISCOM empanelment, warranty terms and references yourself.

7. Accuracy and currency

Content on the Service may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Threads remain online after the prices, products, scheme rules and regulations they discuss have changed. We do not undertake to update or correct content, and the date a post was written is not a guarantee that it was accurate even then.

8. No warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors.

9. Reliance is at your own risk

Any decision you make or action you take in reliance on content from the Service — buying equipment, signing a contract, applying for a subsidy, or carrying out or commissioning work — is entirely at your own risk. Our liability to you is limited as set out in clause 9 of the Terms of Use. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Changes

We may update this Disclaimer. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
