Community rules
Short version: help people go solar without wasting their money. Everything below is just that idea, spelled out.
Be decent
Disagree with the answer, never the person. No harassment, slurs, or pile-ons. Assume the person asking is smart but new to solar.
Be specific
“It depends” helps nobody. Real numbers, real brands, your state and DISCOM — that is what turns a thread into something the next reader can use.
Be honest
Say what you actually know, and say when you're guessing. If you sell solar, disclose it every time you recommend your own product.
Asking a good question
- Search first — your question may already be answered.
- Put the real question in the title, not “Please help”.
- Include your monthly bill or units, your state, and your roof area.
- Say what you've already been quoted or told, and by whom.
- Post one question per thread so answers stay findable.
Writing a good answer
- Answer the question that was asked before suggesting something else.
- Show your working — a number without its assumptions can't be checked.
- Cite the scheme, DISCOM rule, or datasheet where it matters.
- Correct yourself in an edit rather than deleting and reposting.
- Upvote what genuinely helped; downvote what is wrong, not what you dislike.
What gets content removed
Undisclosed promotion
Installers, dealers, and manufacturers are welcome — many of the best answers come from them. But if you have a commercial interest in what you're recommending, say so in the same post. Hidden self-promotion is the fastest way to lose your account.
Spam and link stuffing
Repetitive posts, affiliate links, and threads that exist only to rank a website get removed.
Misleading claims
Inventing subsidy amounts, guaranteeing generation figures, or misrepresenting a competitor's product. Getting something wrong is fine; asserting it confidently when you know better is not.
Other people's personal data
Never post someone's consumer number, phone number, address, or quote documents without their consent — yours included, for your own safety.
Unsafe electrical instructions
Do not talk anyone through live DC work or grid tie-in. Point them to a licensed electrician instead.
Anything unlawful
Content prohibited under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.
How this is enforced
Anyone can flag a post with the Report button. Reports go to a moderation queue, are never shown to the author, and are reviewed by our team.
Depending on what we find we may edit or remove the content, close the thread, or suspend the account. Repeat or deliberate breaches — especially undisclosed advertising — lead to a ban.
We are an intermediary: we don't read every post before it appears. If you think we got a decision wrong, contact our Grievance Officer through the support page. We acknowledge within 24 hours and aim to resolve within 15 days.
These rules sit alongside our Terms of Service, which is the binding agreement. Where the two differ, the Terms govern.
