Cookie Policy

This Policy explains how Solarcom ("Solarcom", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on solarcom.in (the "Service"). Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.

We use two cookies. Both are strictly necessary to keep you signed in. We run no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies at all. That is why you are not asked to accept a consent banner — under Indian and comparable law, consent is not required for cookies that are essential to deliver a service you have asked for.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They let a site remember something between page loads — here, only the fact that you are signed in. Related technologies include local storage and session storage, which are covered by section 4.

2. The cookies we set

Both are first-party (set by our own API), HTTP-only — meaning JavaScript running in the page cannot read them, which limits the damage of a script-injection attack — and marked Secure and SameSite=Lax in production, so they travel only over HTTPS and are not sent on cross-site requests.

• sc_access — strictly necessary. Holds a short-lived signed token identifying your session. Expires after 15 minutes. Sent with requests across the site.
• sc_refresh — strictly necessary. Holds a single-use token that renews your session so you are not signed out every 15 minutes. Expires after 30 days. It is restricted to our authentication endpoints, is destroyed and replaced each time it is used, and is deleted immediately when you sign out.

Neither cookie contains your name, email address, or password, and neither is used to build a profile of you or to track you across other websites.

3. What we deliberately do not use

• No advertising, retargeting, or conversion cookies.
• No third-party analytics cookies.
• No social media tracking pixels or share-button trackers.
• No cross-site tracking, device fingerprinting, or data-broker sharing.
• No cookies set by anyone other than us.

Images on the Service are served through our own domain rather than fetched from a storage provider, so simply viewing a page does not expose you to a third party.

4. Local storage and similar technologies

We do not currently use local storage, session storage, or similar client-side technologies to store personal data or preferences. If that changes, this Policy will be updated first and the "Last updated" date above will change.

5. Managing cookies

You can view, delete, or block cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a private-browsing mode that clears them when you close the window. Because both of our cookies are essential to authentication, blocking or deleting them will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in or using account features.

You can still browse all public content — questions, answers, profiles, guides, and the calculator — with cookies blocked entirely. Nothing on the Service requires a cookie unless you want to sign in.
